Happy Hops Rabbit Ranch

We raise Rex and Silver Fox rabbits as a source of meat, fur, and amusement.  Our rabbits live on the ground for most of the year where they’re free to act out their rabbity silliness.  In the summer, they receive a diet of fresh greens (dandelion, clover, fireweed, yarrow, vetch, grasses, horsetail, and garden greens).  Young of the year live in moveable “tractors” where they can actively forage on the ground until they are culled in early winter.  Overwintering adults eat a diet of local hay and oats and romp in the snow until breeding starts again in the spring.  Our animals regularly appear in local rabbit shows.

Rex

The Rex breed is known for its short, dense, plush fur, which makes them pleasant to handle and keeps them sufficiently warm in our cold Interior winters.  Adults are approximately 9 pounds and make great pets.

Silver Fox

The fur of the Silver Fox is slightly coarser than a Rex’s due to longer guard hairs, resulting in a more robust and water resistant pelt.  Adults are approximately 11 pounds and make great pets, but they are noticeably larger than a Rex.
